Buying a home is a huge step. First-time homebuyers don't always know what is involved in making that type of purchase.

Given the current market conditions, now is a great time to purchase a home. The prices are lower, there are many homes to choose from, and interest rates are low. If you plan on staying in a particular area for at least 2 years, buying a home may be in your best interest.

You don't necessarily need to put down 20%. It's always good to have a nice down payment, but there are so many lending options available and you can put as little as 3% on some homes or on average 3.5% for an FHA loan.

You should choose to work with your own real estate agent to help you find the perfect home. Hiring an agent does not cost you anything. The seller pays your agent. You will have someone working hard to help you find the perfect home in the perfect location and looking out for your best interest and negotiating on your behalf, making sure you get the best house for your money.
